Summer Collegiate Riding Clinics

Sweet Briar College offers three-day summer riding clinics for rising high school students who ride at an intermediate or advanced level. Students will improve horsemanship while learning how to set competitive goals as part of a team experience. Portions of mounted sessions are videotaped for review with instructors.

Summer Explore Environmental Engineering Weekend for High School Girls

June 22-23, 2019

Working in teams with Sweet Briar engineering faculty and undergraduate engineering students, high schoolers work on creative and fun design projects that are perfect for both experienced students and those completely new to engineering. You’ll learn the design process from brainstorming to testing and revising prototypes, experience problem-solving as an engineer, and make your design a reality!

This event is open to high school girls in their sophomore, junior and senior years.

Summer Explore Engineering Design Course for High School Girls

July 21-26, 2019

Summer Explore Engineering Design Course attendees work in teams with Sweet Briar professors and students to brainstorm, design and bring to life a fun, creative project that has real-world significance. Recent design projects include computer-controlled smart wearables, sustainable building materials, an automatically refilling pet bowl, and an electromechanical drawing machine. This weeklong for-credit course is hands-on and ideal for both experienced students and those new to engineering.

This event is open to high school girls in their sophomore, junior and senior years.
