Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day

As part of National Engineers Week, we invite high school girls (grades 9-12) from across the region to join us for Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day at Sweet Briar on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2020.  Sweet Briar’s Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day celebration is a great way for high school girls to learn what engineers do and try out engineering for themselves. Participants will make a fun, hands-on project together and with the help of Sweet Briar engineering professors and students, explore campus, and meet professional engineers later that evening at our National Engineers Week Banquet.

Featuring

  • Hands-on engineering projects with SBC engineering professors and students
  • A campus tour
  • Dinner at the National Engineers Week Banquet on campus that evening, featuring a talk by Dr. Kevin Kochersberger, associate professor of mechanical engineering at Virginia Tech, about a drone and data academy he opened for students in Malawi with UNICEF in January 2020.

Note: While student participants are provided with a ticket to the National Engineers Week Banquet that evening, tickets for family members etc. wishing to join are not included and must be purchased separately.
