Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day

As part of National Engineers Week, each year we invite high school girls (grades 9-12) from across the region to join us for Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day at Sweet Briar.  Sweet Briar’s Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day celebration is a great way for high school girls to learn what engineers do and try out engineering for themselves. Participants will make a fun, hands-on project together and with the help of Sweet Briar engineering professors and students, explore campus, and meet professional engineers later that evening at our National Engineers Week Banquet.

Due to the pandemic and the logistical constraints of safely gathering, we have decided to cancel the 2021 celebration of Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day at Sweet Briar as it is typically offered.

We are evaluating how to best celebrate National Engineers Week as a whole, and are exploring the possibility of hosting and/or sponsoring a variety of smaller events through the week. It is possible that Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day 2021 may be held in a different format the week of February 22-28, 2021. We hope to make a final announcement of our plans by late December of 2020.
