Mikel Mayo-Pitts, Director of Outdoor Programs
Mikel is a graduate of Radford University with a degree in outdoor recreation and leadership. He has worked many jobs in the outdoor field from leading rock climbing, backpacking and paddling trips to spending his summers teaching 8-14 year-olds about “outdoor adventure.” Now he finds himself directing Sweet Briar College’s outdoor program which he says is his dream job because it gives [him] the chance to create an impactful and inclusive community while still spending time in the outdoors, being active and experiencing new and beautiful places.

Grace Brittain, Outdoor Program Staff Leader
Grace is an Engineering major and class of 2024. Some of her favorite outdoor activities are kayaking, rock climbing, hiking. Most of her favorite memories are from going to camp and enjoying smores over a campfire. She grew up with amazing mountains and woods just waiting to be explored! which helped her love and curiosity for nature grow. Grace was excited to join the outdoor program first as an apprentice and now a leader.

Devon Felton, Outdoor Program Leader
Creative writing major with a love for the outdoors. Hopes to spark an appreciation for nature in others and show people that it’s not so bad to be in the woods.

Weatherly Ryder, Outdoor Program Leader
Weatherly Ryder ’22 is a biology and environmental science student and has been a part of the Outdoor Program since her first year. She is a member of the IHSA riding team and Audubon Birding Society. Weatherly’s favorite outdoor trips include skiing, hikes and paddle boarding. Her dog, Gershwin, likes to accompany her on many woodland adventures around her lovely home state of Virginia. One fun fact is she loves to learn about sharks and marine life!

Sita Moses, Trip Leader
Sita Moses is a Sophomore from Dublin, New Hampshire. Her interest in the outdoors began from a very young age by spending time exploring the woods with her two older brothers. Now, Sita is happy to continue learning and growing through outdoor experiences as a part of the Sweet Briar College Outdoor Program. She is also a member of the college’s IHSA team, Riding Council, Sustainability Club, and is a Resident Advisor.

Renée Taylor
I am a double major student focusing my studies on English/Creative Writing and Studio Arts. I pull a lot of my inspiration from the outdoors which has always been a big part of my life. Some of my favorite things to do are camping trips and shredding the slopes on a snowboard. I am involved in multiple clubs across campus and play midfielder on the soccer team. It’s certainly always a pleasure to be outside, rain, shine, or even snow.
