New multicultural center and student services manager

Multicultural Center

Meghan GladleMeghan Gladle, the new multicultural student services manager, joins the Sweet Briar community after establishing her career in international education and enrollment management at the University of Delaware. Originally from a small town in central New York, Meghan completed her high school education in Catalonia, Spain. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Literature and a Master’s in Teaching English as a Second Language from the University of Delaware. She has lived abroad both as a student and professional in Argentina, Italy, Greece, Spain and New Zealand. Growing up, Meghan competed in eventing and has continued to train in dressage with her Thoroughbred rescue mare, Indiana.

As the multicultural student services manager, Meghan will coordinate the newly launched Multicultural Center, located in Reid Pit, which will serve as a safe space and resource for underrepresented minority students and affinity student organizations at Sweet Briar. The center serves as an educational space for all members of the community to learn about topics and issues related to diversity, equity and inclusion.

Additionally, Meghan will advise students on study abroad opportunities available through both short-term faculty-led opportunities as well as semester and year-long study abroad programs.

Yesterday, Meghan, along with several students groups who now have offices in Reid Pit—SGA, Inner-Club Council, Campus Events Organization, Daisy’s Closet—organized a fantastic open house to show off the spruced up space. Over 100 students visited the open house and shared aspirations to hang out or study in the space, donate to Daisy’s, run for SGA positions, get more involved in campus clubs and more. Over 30 community members registered for the YWCA Stand Against Racism Challenge.

Meghan extends her thanks to the student volunteers who gave out 223 water bottles, 175 ice cream bars, chatted with all the students, staff and faculty, and engaged members of the community in the exciting and meaningful initiatives coordinated by SGA, CEO, ICC, Daisy’s Closet and the Multicultural Center.
