Students in Shawn O’Connor’s Ceramics class aren’t just making pottery this fall — they also built their own kiln: Using wood, chicken wire, bricks and clay-covered newspaper, the students fashioned a special furnace around their clay pieces. After letting it all dry for two days, they fired up the wood inside the kiln. On the third day, they took down the structure to reveal the baked ceramics pieces. Here’s what that looked like!
