Hello, I am joining you today from our greenhouse where we have lettuce, kale, tomatoes, pepper and many other things growing to feed our campus community. I am permitted a tiny patch here myself where I grow chives, parsley, sage and cilantro. Above all, this greenhouse is a site of learning and innovation. For example, our agricultural operations and engineering students are testing and implementing a hydroponic system. More than greens are growing at Sweet Briar. The March Days of Giving started in 2016 as a way for us to recommit ourselves to Sweet Briar’s perpetuity. Your generous response during the March Days of Giving goes a long way to prove the power of our purpose to foster and educate women who will lead the world into a more inclusive, equitable and sustainable future. The Sweet Briar Fund sustains that purpose by funding scholarships, academic program and faculty support and providing for the stewardship of our historic buildings and 2,840-acre campus. Here are our March Days of Giving Goals. On March 1st, we will raise $500,000, and between March 2nd and the 10th, in the Anna Fletcher Williams birthday, we will raise another $500,000. In the month of March, we hope to increase the alumnae participation to 20%. Sweet Briar’s March Days of Giving has become an important tradition, a legend onto itself. Please join us again this year to show what can happen when women lead the way. Thank you from all of us at Sweet Briar and enjoy your day!
