Matching Gifts

Many companies support Sweet Briar by matching or multiplying an employee’s gifts to the College. Often, this benefit is extended to spouses, retirees and board members, as well.

Before you make a gift, check with your company’s personnel office or use the search tool on the right to see if your employer participates.

Gifts of appreciated securities can provide you with an income tax-charitable deduction and a capital gains tax savings. There are several ways to make a gift of securities to Sweet Briar: electronic transfer, mail or hand delivery.

It is important that before you make your gift, you notify the alumnae relations and development office of your intent by calling toll-free at 800-381-6131, or by sending an email to Paula Eanes at peanes@sbc.edu stating your name, address and the purpose for which the gift is being made. If you are interested in making a gift of appreciated securities to Sweet Briar, please email Paula at peanes@sbc.edu and Claire Griffith at cgriffith@sbc.edu.

Please contact the Office of Alumnae Relations and Development prior to sending or delivering item(s) as the College must approve these donations. Gifts-in-Kind are tangible gifts of personal property, such as artwork, books, livestock, historical collections and scientific equipment. Assets related to the educational mission of the College can be deducted for their full fair-market value. Personal property unrelated to the College’s mission can be deducted at the cost to the donor.
