Savanna Klein graduated from Sweet Briar in 2016 with a major in environmental studies and a minor in economics. She chose the College for its small classes, awesome professors and the riding program, but probably the biggest factor in her choice was Sweet Briar’s beautiful campus. “I wanted to be able to walk out of my dorm room and explore somewhere new every day,” she says. “Also, the research opportunities with such an expansive campus were enticing.” As a student, she was a representative on the Honors Program Student Council, a Common Ground mentor, a tutor in the Academic Resource Center, a violist in the orchestra, a horseback rider, a member of Tau Phi and an avid Outdoor Program participant. In fact, she says she has a serious whitewater kayaking addiction, which she picked up through the Sweet Briar Outdoor Program.
“I gained a lot of confidence in and outside the classroom during my time at Sweet Briar,” Savanna says. “As a first-year I always doubted myself when answering questions or working on projects, but my professors continued to push me to speak up in class and defend my ideas and eventually I realized that I could think for myself pretty darn well.” As an admissions counselor, she enjoys seeing prospective students get excited about Sweet Briar when they discover that it’s the right fit for them.
