Self-Designed Study of Foreign Languages
The study of foreign languages is an important component of a well-rounded education. If you’re interested in studying a foreign language at Sweet Briar, we’re committed to making that possible.
President Meredith Woo serves as our foreign language coordinator. She will guide you through the process of finding a relevant course so that you may study any language that interests you.
Further, we’ll support you if you find that you would like to immerse yourself in the study of your chosen language. You could study abroad or do an international internship, experiences that might last for a few weeks, a semester or a full year. In fact, we offer Grants for Engaged Learning — awards of up to $2,000 during a student’s time at Sweet Briar — that support a variety of experiential learning opportunities including travel and internships that you can use to enhance your language proficiency.
