To be eligible for boarding at the Sweet Briar College stables, all horses
- must be sound in both mind and body;
- must be able to remain sound in both mind and body when turnout becomes limited due to weather conditions; and
- must not repeatedly exhibit unsafe behavior on the ground or while being ridden that will jeopardize the safety of the handler or rider.
Horses whose soundness cannot be effectively managed with the resources available through Sweet Briar professional contacts or those of the private horse owner may be asked not to return the following semester. This specifically applies to horses who are unsound over an extended period of time (more than half of the semester).
