United Way Presents ‘Team Leadership’ Award to Sweet Briar

The United Way of Central Virginia has honored Sweet Briar College with its “Team Leadership” award for the 2007-08 campaign. The award “recognizes the corporation or institution that creates an environment of caring and compassion among its employees that go beyond expectations during the campaign.”

Karen Summers, staff coordinator for SBC’s United Way campaign, accepted the award at a breakfast held Tuesday, March 11 at the James River Conference Center in Lynchburg.

“Sweet Briar College should be very honored to receive this ‘Team Leadership’ award,” she said. “Because we are such a strong community at Sweet Briar and because we recognize the importance and benefits of community, we are able to take these assets beyond Sweet Briar and into the local areas to help make a difference for many individuals in Central Virginia.”
