SBC Community Philanthropy Week is Feb. 17-22

LAURA GLOVER
Director of annual giving, development

Sweet Briar College’s Community Philanthropy Week will be held Feb. 17-22. This is the point in the year when tuition dollars have been spent and Sweet Briar is powered by gifts to the College. Without these gifts the school year would be over.

Faculty, staff and students working on the campaign will receive buttons that say “SBC Powered by Giving” in order to show their support for the Annual Fund and the importance of philanthropy.

Students who choose to participate in the campaign and make a gift also will be given a button to wear to show their commitment to the success of Sweet Briar and her future students. The Annual Fund hopes to see everyone on campus wearing the buttons!

This celebration of the power of philanthropy goes well beyond the buttons that are going to be distributed. The Annual Fund is sponsoring the first SBC Community Campaign that will culminate in the SBC Community Philanthropy Week.

During this week, there will be a variety of events on campus focused on educating the community about this powerful tool: giving. Giving allows the person who participates to have a direct impact on a cause, organization or group that they feel is important.

The following events and activities will occur during the week of Feb. 17. Please encourage students and other faculty and staff to attend.

  • Monday, Feb. 18: Non-Profit and Career Panel in the Boxwood Room at 7:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Feb. 19: Young Alumnae Thankathon in Prothro from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Feb. 20: Movie Night in Tyson at 8 p.m.
  • Thursday, Feb. 21: Community Karaoke Night in the Vixen Den from 9 to 10:30 p.m.
  • Friday, Feb. 22: Senior Staff Serving Lunch in Prothro from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.
