Kevin Fabulich, Sweet Briar’s new head soccer coach, holds on for dear life at an outing earlier this month with the athletics department. Members of the department spent two days at Smith Mountain Lake preparing for the 2007-08 athletic campaign. Before the business got underway some members took advantage of the lake, enjoying fishing, jet skiing and tubing. Aside from some items left at the bottom of the lake and a few sore necks, fun was had by all.
News from AthleticsCAMERON ADAMS Kat Alexander '11 attempts to dribble past a teammate at a recent soccer practice. The team's first home game is at 4 p.m. on Sept. 12 against Eastern Mennonite University.
Student-Athletes Honored by Conference for Academic Performances Twenty-one Sweet Briar student-athletes were among the 1,076 student-athletes honored Aug. 9, as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference announced its 2006-07 ODAC All-Academic Team. To be eligible for the ODAC All-Academic Team, student-athletes must achieve at least a 3.25 grade point average. The following Sweet Briar student-athletes were honored:

Preseason Underway Field hockey, soccer and volleyball student-athletes arrived on campus early for preseason meetings and workouts. In its fourth year, the 2007 preseason brought the largest contingency of student-athletes to campus, including 23 first-years. The three-day season kickoff consisted of two-a-day practices as well as sessions on leadership and academics, a mental Olympics, required paperwork, and a guest speaker. The 2007-08 athletics schedule kicks off Friday, Aug. 31 with field hockey hosting St. Vincent’s at 4:30 p.m. For a complete 2007-08 athletics schedule visit http://www.sbc.edu/athletics. Alumna Joins Vixen Soccer Alumna Tina Hansel Snover ’99 joins the Vixen soccer staff this fall, assisting Kevin Fabulich who took over as head soccer coach in May. Snover majored in psychology and early childhood education at the College. As a Vixen, she was an all-conference soccer player and played one summer overseas with the Lady Charlotte Eagles. Since graduation, Snover has worked with several high school teams and individuals, serving as a head coach, assistant coach and goalkeeper coach.
