Molly Brown Wins Poetry Prize

A poem by Molly Brown, daughter of creative writing faculty members John and Carrie Brown, was recently awarded the Patricia Grodd Poetry Prize for Young Writers by The Kenyon Review.

The poem, “Terra Incognita,” was one of 945 considered for the prize and will be published in The Kenyon Review. As winner, Molly also was awarded a full scholarship to the literary journal’s Young Writers workshop at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio.

According to The Kenyon Review’s Web site, “The Patricia Grodd Poetry Prize for Young Writers recognizes outstanding young poets and is open to high school sophomores and juniors throughout the world.”

It is named in honor of Grodd for her devotion to the literary journal and its programs.
