Kids in College Needs You!

From staff reports

Do you have a hidden talent? Do you have a hobby you enjoy? Would you like to share your interests with kids in grades 3 through 8? Then Kids in College is for you!

Faculty and staff and their spouses are being recruited to teach classes for the sixth-annual KIC program.

The dates are June 16 through 20, from 9 a.m. to noon. Instructors will teach two classes; one from 9 to 10:20 a.m. and the other from 10:40 a.m. to noon. For participating, you will receive a $400 stipend and an exclusive sixth-annual KIC T-shirt.

Be creative when thinking about a subject that you would like to teach. The class can be either your academic specialty or a hidden talent.

Examples of past classes are animal behavior, Chinese, pinhole photography, German, chess, fencing, Spanish, motors, kitchen chemistry, art and architecture, dance, acting, quilting, soccer, volleyball and music.

Some new ones could be stained glass making, Web site building, gardening and planting, knitting, sewing, tennis or jewelry making.

To sign up as an instructor, or for more information, please contact Pam Simpson (psimpson@sbc.edu or Ext. 6443) by March 5.
