The College will be hosting a number of distinguished lecturers who will speak on a range of subjects during the spring semester. Here’s a sampling of speakers coming up in March.
‘Colonial Hygiene on Exhibit and on Trial’ Subject of Lecture March 4
U.S. State Department historian Joe Wiscentowski will present a lecture on “Colonial Hygiene on Exhibit and on Trial: The Taibei Police Hygiene Exhibition of 1925” 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 4 in the Browsing Room at Cochran Library. ‘Inside Iraq: The Untold Stories’ Documentary March 18
Sweet Briar College’s film studies program presents “Inside Iraq: The Untold Stories,” a documentary by award-winning filmmaker Mike Shiley, at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 18 in Tyson Auditorium. Appalachian Archaeology Lecturer March 19
Archaeologist Jodi Barnes will speak at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 19 in Tyson Auditorium. During her lecture, “From Farms to Forests: The Archaeology of an Appalachian Landscape,” Barnes will talk about her work in Amherst on a free black farmstead. Albert Bates, Environmental Lawyer, Author and Co-founder of The Farm, Lectures March 27
Albert Bates, environmental lawyer, author and co-founder of The Farm, will present “Tipping Points: How to Get the Kind We Want” at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 27 in Conference Rooms A and B of the Florence Elston Inn & Conference Center. Holocaust Survivor Eva Kor Speaks March 30
