Former SBC Dean of Co-curricular Life Appointed Acting President at Voorhees College

Valdrie N. Walker, whose name will be familiar to many on Sweet Briar’s campus, was named acting president of Voorhees College in Denmark, S.C., on Aug. 6. She is the dean of Voorhees.

Walker served as the dean of co-curricular life at Sweet Briar from 1998 until 2005, when she left to become vice president for academic affairs at Edward Waters College in Jacksonville, Fla.

While at SBC, she was instrumental in crafting a nationally recognized program integrating academic and co-curricular life. Walker also was an associate professor of education at Sweet Briar.

The Sweet Briar College community congratulates Valdrie and wishes her well in her new post.
