‘First Wednesdays’ Author to Read from Memoir April 2

Jennifer Brice, a Colgate University professor who once taught creative writing at Sweet Briar College, will return to campus Wednesday, April 2 for the College’s “First Wednesdays” series.

Brice will read from her forthcoming book, “Unlearning to Fly: A Memoir.”

The reading will begin at 8 p.m. in the Wailes Lounge at the Florence Elston Inn & Conference Center. Admission is free and a reception will follow. The series of public readings is sponsored by Sweet Briar’s creative writing program.

Brice, who teaches creative nonfiction writing and literature at Colgate, is also the author of “The Last Settlers,” a book about Alaskan homesteaders. Her work also has appeared in numerous journals, including “Gettysburg Review,” “Manoa” and “River Teeth.”

She has a bachelor’s degree from Smith College and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Alaska in Fairbanks.
