Faculty, Staff Share Favorite Works at ‘First Wednesdays’From staff reports On the evening of Dec. 5, several faculty and staff members read their favorite poems or other written works at a “First Wednesdays” event sponsored by the Inklings, the student literary club. The readings were held at the Wailes Lounge and a reception followed. Among those who participated were Dean Jonathan Green reading e.e. cummings, Chaplain Adam White declaiming “Jabberwocky,” art history professor Christopher Witcombe croaking “The Song of Mr. Toad” and theater professor Bill Kershner soliloquizing from Shakespeare’s “Hamlet.” English professors John Gregory Brown, Carrie Brown and Dave Griffith also read, along with members of the Inklings.
The next “First Wednesdays” will be 7:30 p.m. Feb. 6. at the Wailes Lounge. This event also will be sponsored by the Inklings. For more information, contact Carrie Brown at cbrown@sbc.edu .
