Campus Talent Show Raises Funds for HabitatFrom staff reports The inaugural Sweet Briar Campus Talent Show, held March 26 in Josey Dining Room, raised more than $60 for the Amherst County Chapter of Habitat for Humanity. Hosted by the business management lab, the event aimed to raise funds, through a raffle, as well as awareness for Habitat. Approximately 100 people attended. Some of the acts included the Vixen Inklings in “Harry Potter Family Feud,” Celtic dancer Katherine Boltz ’10 accompanied by violinist Laura Hanold ’10, Anne Corey ’11 playing Beethoven on the piano, a “Saddle Club” spoof video and acoustic acts by Liz Wise ’11 and Michelle Raymond ’08, accompanied by Mallory Sherwood ’09. Craig Cassell, executive director of the Amherst Chapter of Habitat, also was in attendance to talk about the local chapter and how much they appreciate student volunteers.
“It was a fun and interesting night and we hope to see it again in Sweet Briar’s future,” one of the events coordinators, Maria McAlpine ’11, said.
