Business Students Host Fashion Show, Silent AuctionJESSICA LEINER '10 Sweet Briar College’s Business Management Lab will host a fashion show and silent auction to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13 in Prothro Dining Hall. Included will be a live performance by Sweet Briar student and musician Michelle Raymond and a short, informative speech by a representative from Make-A-Wish, an organization that grants wishes to seriously ill children. The fashion show will feature clothing by South Moon Under, a Richmond-area store, and make-up by Mary Kay Cosmetics. Models for the show will consist of members of the Sweet Briar student body and there also will be a runway performance by one male professor. The professor will be chosen by the Sweet Briar community through the use of penny collection jars, which will be located in the Prothro atrium until Friday, Nov. 2. “Our goal is to raise awareness about the Make-A-Wish Foundation as well as to provide a fun night of entertainment for the Sweet Briar College campus,” event organizer and SBC sophomore Jesse Leiner said. Tickets, to be sold in Prothro, are $3 in advance and $4 at the door. The event is one of several planned for this fall to raise money and awareness for Make-A-Wish. On Oct. 18, the class raised about $500 at a Halloween-themed benefit concert; on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1, a jail-a-thon was held in the lower quad, and on Nov. 14, there will be a dining hall fast to benefit Make-A-Wish.
