Sweet Briar is one of 25 independent colleges in the state that will welcome rising high school juniors and seniors and their families during Virginia Private College Week for campus tours and special information sessions about the College.
Held this year from Monday, July 25 through Saturday, July 30, Virginia Private College Week is an annual open house program hosted by member institutions of the Council of Independent Colleges in Virginia. The coordinated event is a cost- and time-efficient way for prospective students to visit numerous campuses in one planned trip.
Virginia is home to a variety of distinctive private institutions that offer all the educational benefits of public colleges and universities plus the advantages of small, student-centered liberal arts and science programs. Finding the school that fits the prospective student is key to a successful college experience and there’s no better way to achieve that than to see the campus, meet the people and sample the environment first-hand. The tours also offers the opportunity to discover how surprisingly affordable a private college education can be.
Virginia Private College Week also saves money in the application process. Those who visit at least three campuses will receive three application fee waivers that may be used to apply to any CICV member college for free.
Sweet Briar’s sessions will be held at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. daily through Friday. Only the morning session will be offered Saturday. Optional tours of the riding center also will be available at 11:15 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
Each session will begin with a tour of campus and include an overview of the distinctive aspects of a Sweet Briar education, as well as information on admissions and financial aid.
Reservations are strongly recommended but are not required to visit Sweet Briar. For questions or if you are unable to visit during Virginia Private College Week, please email [email protected] or call (800) 381-6142 and the staff will be happy to schedule a visit at another time.
