Sweet Briar wins four international awards

| June 29, 2012

The Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) has announced the 2012 winners of its international Circle of Excellence Awards.

Sweet Briar College’s media, marketing and communications office took home four awards, including three gold awards in the categories “Recruitment Search Publications, Miscellaneous Flyers, and Brochures,” “Recruitment Videos” and “Viewbooks and Prospectuses,” and a bronze award for “Excellence in Design: Covers.”

This marks the second time this year that Sweet Briar has been honored for its marketing publications. In February, the College won five CASE awards in the council’s regional competition for District III, which included schools and universities in Virginia, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.

Among the 2012 Circle of Excellence award winners were universities from around the world, including Canada, Australia, South Africa, Hong Kong, Finland, the Netherlands and the U.K., as well as renowned national institutions such as Boston University, Duke and Yale. Sweet Briar was one of the smallest colleges on the list of recipients.

“To beat out schools that are larger and better known is really a testimony to the hard work that the Sweet Briar marketing office has done,” said Zach Kincaid, director of media, marketing and communications at the College.

“It means we’re turning heads and people are noticing. I think this helps position Sweet Briar to be recognized for what the marketing materials tout — a school that has a big mission to empower and educate young women to passionately change the world.”

Specifically, Sweet Briar was honored for its recruitment video “She Will Change the World” (gold), its viewbook “Flourish” (gold), the triangular foldable flyer “Find Your Place” (gold) and the cover design of its fall 2011 magazine (bronze).
