Dancers Evoke Life in the City

| February 9, 2011
Dance majors Ashley Adams and Sara Buttine will present their senior concert, “A City of … ,“ at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11 and Saturday, Feb. 12 in the upper dance studio at Babcock Fine Arts Center.

The choreography “embraces all aspects of the city,” Buttine said. “Shining light, tapping toes, powerful poetry and crowded city streets. We bring it all to the stage, nothing is left behind.”

The pair wanted to put together a show that encompasses the things that have inspired them throughout their dancing careers, Buttine says. Both have been dancing since they were young and she thinks the audience will see glimpses of their combined experiences in the choreography.

“Our hope is to show the community our style and who we are. We both have strong technique and powerful movements with a lot of passion,” she said.

“Each piece evokes a different feeling and time of day, passing through the day, figuratively. The city becomes full of personalities.”

Admission is free. For more information, Please call (434) 381-6150 or e-mail mmagruder@sbc.edu.
