Class of 2011 senior awards announced

Each year, Sweet Briar College presents a number of awards to seniors to honor their academic excellence in specific disciplinary areas across the liberal arts and sciences and their exemplary contributions to the welfare of the College community. The following awards were presented on Friday, May 13 to graduating members of the Class of 2011:
  • The Alpha Lambda Delta Award: Kathryn Jeanne Alexander
  • The American Association of University Women: Abigail Kristina Davis
  • The Anthropology and Archaeology Department Book Prize: Elizabeth Ross Baker and Wendi L. Harder
  • The Marcia Capron Award for Excellence in French: Mary Rose McCarthy and Gina Mariel Miraglia
  • The Crysler Award: Melissa Ann Simpson
  • The Juliet Halliburton Davis Environmental Science Award: Elizabeth Claire Carwile
  • The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International Outstanding Scholar Education Award: Amelie Marie Drake
  • The Economics Department Outstanding Senior Award: Catherine Ren Waterman
  • The English Essay Award: Morgan Blair Harman
  • The German Embassy Book Prize: Sarah Jane Jennings, Elise Little Stine and Morganne Therese Young
  • The Kathryn Haw Prize in Art History: Victoria Anne Trudeau
  • The James Lewis Howe Award in Chemistry: Melaina Macone
  • L’Alliance Francaise de Lynchburg: Catherine Suzanne Wilson
  • The Jessica Steinbrenner Molloy Award in Theater Arts: Catherine Jane Tooke
  • The Helen K. Mull Graduate Fellowship in Psychology: Brittney Amelia Bolin
  • The Lawrence G. Nelson Award for Excellence in English: Jocelyn Maguire Stephens
  • The Pauline Roberts Otis Award in French: Victoria Anne Trudeau
  • The W. Edward Overly Award in Spanish: Tiffany Nicholle Rapetsky and Catherine Ren Waterman
  • The Presidential Medalist: Kathryn Jeanne Alexander
  • The SGA Excellence in Service Award: Sarah Fox Schofield
  • The Anne Gary Pannell Taylor Award in History: Anna Lisbeth Newberg

  • The Tye River Elementary “Big Sister” Award: Kelsey Morgan Smith
