Sweet Briar College will present a free chamber music concert by the award-winning Claremont Trio at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25 in Memorial Chapel.
Violinist Emily Bruskin and her twin sister Julia, a cellist, formed the trio with pianist Donna Kwong in 1999 at The Juilliard School. They are winners of the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson International Trio Award and the Young Concert Artists International Auditions.
The Claremonts are prolific recording as well as performing artists. In addition to previous discs, this year they released the critically acclaimed “Beethoven & Ravel,” and they are anticipating the release of their newest recording featuring trios by New York composer Robert Paterson, including “Sun Trio” and another written for them.
The group is committed to expanding the trio repertoire and actively commissions new works by composers such as Sean Shepherd, Helen Grime, Gabriela Lena Frank and numerous others. They also have an ongoing collaboration with composer and violinist Daniel Bernard Roumain.
Members of the trio also will present a public lecture at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel. For more information, contact [email protected].
