Giulia Witcombe has been named director of the Junior Year in Spain program at Sweet Briar College, after serving as interim director since July 2013.

Witcombe is an alumna of the program and returned twice as the student assistant for orientation. After receiving her B.A. from Dickinson College, she worked as a bilingual advisor for an international company for many years. She returned to Sweet Briar as the study abroad coordinator for both the Junior Year in France and Junior Year in Spain programs before beginning her master’s in international education with the School for International Training Graduate Institute. In July 2013, she returned to Sweet Briar to lead the Junior Year in Spain program as interim director.

“I am delighted to continue on at Sweet Briar as the JYS director,” Witcombe said. “As an alumna of the program, I hold it near and dear to my heart. It is wonderful for me to be able to come back and be a part of a program that had a tremendous impact on my life.”
