The Vixen volleyball team hosted the Hornets of Lynchburg College tonight at Williams Gymnasium. The Vixens went in with a lot of fight, but they could not stop the Hornets. Lynchburg won in three with scores of 25-11, 25-12, and 25-18.
Laura Jett, '10It was Senior Day for the volleyball squad and senior Laura Jett
(Littleton, Colo.) was honored in a pre-game presentation of flowers and
accolades for three outstanding years as a student-athlete at Sweet Briar
College.
Jett played the defensive specialist position of libero during her career here at Sweet Briar. She will be graduating in the spring, having earned her degree in mathematics in only three years. In addition to being a stand-out student-athlete, she has also earned numerous awards for academic achievement, including being awarded the McVea Scholar for the highest GPA of her class for two years in a row. Jett was also Sweet Briar’s Whiteman Scholar-Athlete Award winner for 2008-09.
Tonight’s game against the Hornets highlighted not only some body-slamming saves by the departing senior, but a lot of heart and effort from the whole Vixen squad.
