Sweet Briar soccer lost a tough match on the road to North Carolina Wesleyan (NCW) today. After going down 0-1 with the clock at 31:30, within the next minute (32:50) Caitlin Swauger (‘13/Clemons, N.C.) evened the match 1 to 1 on a curling left-footed shot on an assist from junior Emily Davies (Staunton, Va.).
Just before halftime, N.C. Wesleyan took the lead on a good through ball by NCW’s Kellie Simons. Meredith Hester (NWC) finished the 1-v-1 by scoring the winning goal.
While the Vixens had numerous opportunities and corners in the 2nd half, they were unable to capitalize and the match finished 2 to 1 for North Carolina Wesleyan.
Sierra Palmieri, '12Sophomore
defender Sierra Palmieri (Ft. Collins, Colo.) had a solid game in the back line
and junior forward Alexis Hart (New Britain, Conn.) created numerous
opportunities up front.
The Vixens will host Eastern Mennonite University on Wednesday, September 23 with a 5:00 pm start time.
