In May, Sweet Briar announced that the College had received funding approval from the board of directors to overhaul the existing computer network on campus.
The summer-long project is expected to result in a 100- to 1,000-fold increase in internal network speed. The upgrades also will increase network reliability, flexibility and security.
At that time, director of network services Aaron Mahler, who is responsible for implementing the upgrade, promised to blog about his summer adventure. He is doing so and those interested in following the progress of the work can read about it at Hey ... Is the Internet Down?
