"Self-Portrait as Hillary in the Rain," by Laura Elkins '74More than 40 pieces — mostly paintings and photographs — by
11 alumnae will be on display. Galleries director Karol Lawson invited the
artists, who are all active professionally in the visual arts, to participate.
"I was pleased with the enthusiastic response," she said. "While some alumnae artists I initially approached could not or did not wish to participate, most did accept the invitation - and very graciously, given the short timeline I imposed on everyone.
"I think it's important to showcase the wide variety of professional artists within the Sweet Briar Community and it is a wonderful opportunity to bring together people who are at very different points in their careers."
