The Sweet Briar Chamber Orchestra will perform in concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 30 in Memorial Chapel, with Joe Nigro conducting. Admission is free and the public is welcome.
Nigro said the program is the most ambitious yet of his three seasons as music director and conductor of the chamber orchestra. It will include "Ancient Airs and Dances, Suite No. 1" by Ottorino Respighi, selections from Andrew Lloyd Webber's "The Phantom of the Opera," "Pavane, Op. 50" by Gabriel Fauré and Beethoven's "Coriolanus, Op. 62."
The group will be performing a full-length symphonic program and the musicians are living up to the challenge, Nigro said. "I could not be more proud. It is a tribute to how hard they are working."
