Emi Masuda, an exchange student from Kyoto, Japan, will perform a piano recital at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 13 in Memorial Chapel at Sweet Briar College. Admission is free.
Emi MasudaThe program includes Chopin's "Etude in C Major, Op. 10, No. 1," Poulenc's "Improvisation in C, Brahms Romance in F, Op. 118, No. 5" and "O Polchinelo," by Villa-Lobos.
Rebecca McCord, her piano professor at Sweet Briar, will join her at the piano for a four-hand duet, "Dolly Suite," by Fauré.
Masuda, 22, has been playing piano for 16 years. She is a student at Doshisha Women's College of Liberal Arts in Japan, where she is majoring in British and American literature. After college, she plans to translate literature from English to Japanese.
During her year at Sweet Briar, she is studying English literature and culture.
