The Sweet Briar Vixen softball team played a doubleheader at Eastern Mennonite University (EMU).
The Vixens met a tough EMU team and dropped both games with only one run scored in each game. Game 1 score was 1-5, game 2 10-1.
The lone run scored by a top of the fourth inning home run by Sweet Briar's Melissa Viar, senior second baseman from Madison Heights, Va.
The pitching effort by Vixen sophomore Megan Franklin (Powhatan, Va.) was not enough to hold EMU. Franklin gave up eight hits and takes the loss.
Pitching in Game 2 for Sweet Briar was first-year player Katelyn Jones (Advance, N.C.). Jones pitched three innings before being relieved by Megan Franklin.
Sweet Briar is 3-18 overall, 0-2 in ODAC play.
