Michelle Raymond, a 2008 graduate of Sweet Briar College, will be the opening act for a benefit concert to be held Friday, March 20 at The National in Richmond. As a Sweet Briar student, Raymond was a frequent performer at campus events, including the Battle of the Bands.
Michelle Raymond will perform at The National March 20.The concert, which also will feature the Houston Scott Band, The Silverbacks and Nitro, is a fundraiser for Connor’s Heroes, a charity that, according to its mission statement, seeks to “build a community of heroes to ease the burden of childhood cancer today and help find a cure for tomorrow.”
The doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8. Tickets are $10 in advance, $13 at the door, and are available at www.ticketmaster.com. A limited number of tickets are available in advance. For more information, call Raymond at (804) 519-7258.
Raymond currently lives in Washington, D.C., where she works for Smith Barney as a client service associate. She performs often, singing and playing the acoustic guitar, and has a regular gig at Nellie’s Sports Bar in D.C. on the first Thursday of every month.
She will return to campus on April 17 for Battle of the Bands and also is scheduled to perform April 19 at an AIDS benefit for the Cherry Fund in D.C.
