The Sweet Briar Promise outlines our distinctive approach for providing meaningful, enduring education for women. It includes:
SWEET BRIAR, Va. — The Fitness and Athletics Center that is under construction continues to transform the Sweet Briar campus. The masonry and steel framing is in place and allows for visualization of exits and entrances, elevator placement and stairwells. This week attachment of the roof has begun and the facility should be totally under cover very soon, weather permitting.
The FAC will house the Physical Education, Athletics, and Recreation Administrative Offices, The New Bistro Grill, three indoor tennis courts, squash and racquetball courts, indoor suspended running track, and a media center. It is on track for completion by Fall of 2009.
In addition to the FAC, the Green Housing Project for student housing is also underway, noted by the grading of land just south of the Prothro student center. The housing is to accommodate more Sweet Briar students in a more environmentally friendly form of construction and is also on target for completion by Fall 2009.
