GREENSBORO, N.C. — Winning 12 of the 14 events contested, Sweet Briar cruised past conference rival Guilford by a score of 153-79. Coach Kuhn was very pleased with the team’s performance, considering the tough circumstances that hit the Sweet Briar community. “This has been a tough week on the team with the passing of long-time coach Jennifer Crispin. She was extremely influential in every facet of Sweet Briar life, and I know she was on the minds of our team. Despite every reason to fail, the team performed valiantly and had some great swims.”
The Sweet Briar Swimming relays were on top of their game, as the squad went 1-2-3 in the 200 Medley Relay and 1-2 in the 200 Free Relay. Individually, winners included Hannah Hesser in the 200 Free and 400 Individual Medley, Melissa Simpson in the 100 Backstroke and 100 Butterfly, Hayley Hill in the 100 Breaststroke, Tori Marshall in the 200 Butterfly, and Allison Stansberry in the 200 Backstroke. Winning their first collegiate individual races included first-year Stephanie Kepner in the 200 Breaststroke, first-year Charlotte Greenwood in the 50 Freestyle, and junior Pauline Barnades in the 400 Freestyle. Another swimmer Coach Kuhn mentioned was first-year Emily Jones, and her performance in the 50 Freestyle.
The team will practice the next week before heading home for a well-deserved Thanksgiving Break. The Vixen’s are back in action at cross-town rival Randolph College Saturday, December 6th at 1p.m.
