Sweet Briar riders took time out on Halloween for some fun and games equestrian style. There’s a name for games on horseback – Gymkhana – which often are played to showcase both horses’ and riders’ skills.

Eight teams of two, pairing an advanced rider with a novice, competed against each other in a series of events such as Ride a Buck, Egg and Spoon and the Suitcase Race.

Renn Goldberg ’ 11 riding her own horse Tipperary and Morgan Harman ’11 on SBC’s Smokey were the first-place team. Coming in second were Kelly Garrison ’12 on SBC’s Nightlight and Kellner Pruett ’12 on SBC’s Jocko. Alex Hiniker ’09 on SBC’s Gringo and Caroline King ’11 on SBC’s Taz were third.
