LEXINGTON, Va. — The Sweet Briar Swim Team had their first competition of the 2008-2009 season at the Old Dominion Athletic Relay Meet held at Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Va.
The Vixens placed 3rd and head coach Alex Kuhn said of his team, "This is a very nice start to the year. At this point in our training, the team is tired, but the results show that we are on track to be highly competitive this season."
Team highlights for the Vixens include finishing 2nd in the 500-yard freestyle relay. The team of Charlotte Greenwood ('12/Wyndmoor, Pa.), Victoria Marshall ('10/Horsham, Pa.), Melissa Simpson, ('11/Madison Heights, Va.), and Hannah Hesser ('10/Richmond, Va.) finished with a team time of 5:10.62.
The Vixens also placed 2nd In the 100-yard dolphin kick relay with a time of 1:01.08. Members included Hannah Hesser, Allison Stansbury ('10/Nashville, Tenn.), Jessica Johnson ('09/Woolwine, Va.) and Samantha Benito ('11/Germany).
The team is back in action this weekend as they travel to Maryland to swim Washington College, Bryn Mawr, Randolph-Macon, and College of Notre Dame.
