Sweet Briar’s junior varsity Fall Hunter Team had a productive outing at the Greensboro Horse Show on Oct. 11 and 12, where they collected championship and reserve championship ribbons and well over a dozen top-six finishes.
Riding for the team were seniors Jenny Walkiewicz and Lauren Guyer and sophomores Erin Aufox and Carly Peoples.
Walkiewicz, riding SBC’s Renaissance, was the champion in the Adult Amateur Hunter division. Walkiewicz won two Over Fences classes and the Adult Amateur Hunter Under Saddle. Guyer teamed up with Sweet Briar’s Cassiema One for two second- and two third-place finishes in four Over Fences classes.
Aufox and Golden Boy, who is on loan to Sweet Briar, claimed the reserve champion spot in the Adult Amateur Hunter division. The pair placed first in the warm up; second, third, third and fifth in the Adult Hunter Over Fences; and first and fourth in the Adult Hunter Under Saddle classes.
Carly Peoples and SBC’s With Style placed third, fifth and sixth Over Fences in the Adult Amateur Hunter division and fourth in the Adult Amateur Hunter Under Saddle.
Celeste Rustom ’10, competing as an individual rider on Sweet Briar’s Remember, was the champion in the Low Hunter division. She placed first in both Over Fences and third in the Under Saddle classes. She also was third in the Warm-up class on Sunday.
Sophomore Jordan Fedrizzi, also riding as an individual, placed second and fifth in the Adult Hunter Under Saddle classes. She was fourth and sixth in the Adult Hunter Over Fences classes. Fedrizzi was riding Prophet, another of Sweet Briar’s school horses.
