September was a good month for Sweet Briar’s Fall Field Team, with strong finishes at a competition at Broadview Ranch in Lexington and the Bull Run Hunter Paces at Locust Hill Preserve near Culpeper.
At the Broadview Ranch Horse Trial on Sept. 13, Alanna Jenkins ’11 was third in the Beginner Novice Junior division riding Woodstock, while Lindsay Mills ’09 riding Nic O’Dema placed third in the Beginner Novice Senior division.
On Sept. 21, two Vixen teams rode in the optimum time division at Bull Run Hunt’s Hunter Pace. Mills, Autumn Zack ’11 and riding fellow Louise Goodling, representing Vixen I, finished in first place. Vixen II members Jenkins and Jocelyn Stephens ’11 were fifth.
The Hunter Pace course was approximately 9 miles long and offered multiple divisions for riders of various levels.
