Sweet Briar College’s business management lab will host a run/walk dubbed the “Fund Run: Steps Toward a Cure” from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26 in the upper quad at Memorial Chapel. The fundraiser will benefit breast cancer awareness, more specifically Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Fund Run registration will be held from 2 to 2:30 p.m. and the run/walk starts at 3 p.m. The course is approximately 2.5 miles long and runs from Memorial Chapel, past the Boathouse, down Woodland Road, past the power plant, down Farm House Road, past the Bistro and back to the chapel.
Awards will be given for most pink wardrobe, largest family, fastest time and, for Sweet Briar students, the most residence hall involvement. Awards will be presented at 4:20 p.m., followed by refreshments and a concert by FaSt, the Sweet Briar faculty/staff band.
Pre-registration is $1 for dogs; $2 for children ages 2 to 5; $3 for children ages 6 to 15; $5 for adults 16 and older; and $3 for students with school ID. Race-day registration is $1 for dogs; $3 for children ages 2 to 5; $5 for children ages 6 to 15; $7 for adults 16 and older; and $5 for students with school ID.
A rain date for the event has been set for Sunday, Nov. 2. In case of postponement, a mass e-mail will be sent and information will be posted on the event’s Facebook group, which can be found by searching for “Sweet Briar Fund Run” on the social networking site.
