Next month, Sweet Briar College art history professor Chris Witcombe will set sail for a series of lectures aboard the Jewel of the Seas, a Royal Caribbean cruise ship. He departs Aug. 3 from Harwich, England, and over the next two weeks will visit Tallinn, Estonia; St. Petersburg, Russia; Helsinki, Finland; Stockholm, Sweden; Copenhagen, Denmark; and Oslo, Norway.

Witcombe will present the following lectures: “A Scandinavian Journey,” “Catherine the Great and the Hermitage,” “Wonderful, Wonderful Copenhagen and Oslo, the City of Tigers” and “In Search of Mermaids and Vikings.”
