Three Sweet Briar College students earned top-10 placements in competitions at the
Phi Beta Lambda National Leadership Conference held June 21 through 24 in Atlanta.
Rising sophomores Katelyn James, Elizabeth Young and Laura Jett – members of Sweet Briar’s new Phi Beta Lambda chapter – qualified for the national competition by placing in the top three at
statewide contests in March.
James, of Hughesville, Md., placed fifth in statistical analysis; Young, of Mahomet, Ill., was sixth in project management; and Jett, of Littleton, Colo., placed ninth in accounting principles.
Approximately 1,600 college students from across the country participated in the conference, during which there were dozens of business-related contests.
Phi Beta Lambda is an association for college students interested in business careers and is a sister organization of Future Business Leaders of America – one of the nation’s largest business-related organizations for high school and middle school students.
