SWEET BRIAR – The 2008 lacrosse season came to an end for Sweet Briar on Sunday as visiting Lynchburg College took the conference match-up 22-13. With the win, Lynchburg improves to 8-8 on the season and clinches a spot in the postseason, while Sweet Briar finishes the spring 5-7.

First-year Stewart Hulfish (Alexandria, Va./Bishop Ireton) netted six goals in the loss to finish her first collegiate season with 31 goals. Juniors Meredith Newman (Charlottesville, Va./Tandem) and Megan Behrle (Manassas, Va./Stonewall Jackson) added three assists and two assists, respectively to end the season tied for the team lead in assists, with 17 each.

Seniors Cat Cox (Prince Frederick, Md./Calverton) and Ellie Donahue (Richmond, Va./Trinity Episcopal) were honored prior to the start of today’s game. The Vixens are slated to face the alumnae in the annual lacrosse alumnae game tomorrow at 2 p.m.
