The Vixens took six of nine matches on Wednesday as Sweet Briar tennis defeated visiting Randolph College 6-3 on senior night. With the win, Sweet Briar improves to 4-7 overall.
Sweet Briar kicked-off with conference win going 2-for-3 in doubles play. Sophomore Virginia Edahl (Charlotte, N.C./Providence) and senior Caroline Byrd (Virginia Beach, Va./Norfolk Academy) teamed to pick up their seventh win of the season at No. 1 doubles with an 8-0 win. Junior Stephanie Nance (Moneta, Va./Staunton River) and senior Michelle Raymond (Chester, Va./Thomas Dale) picked up the other Vixen win. The two took their match at No. 3 by a 9-7 score.

Caroline Byrd '08 Won Her Third-Straight Singles Match
The Vixens then moved on to singles where the team swept matches one through four. Edahl and Byrd won their third straight at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively. Doubles winner, Nance captured a win at No. 3 singles with a 6-4, 6-0 win and first-year Ebie Baker (Farmville, Va./Prince Edward Co.) defeated her No. 4 opponent 6-0,6-1.
Seniors Byrd, Raymond and Lieschen Cluiss (Conroe, Texas/Concordia Lutheran) were honored prior to the start of the match.
Sweet Briar has one regular season match remaining on the schedule before the conference tournament. The Vixens travel to Guilford on Monday for a 4 p.m. match.
