ROANOKE, Va. – Sweet Briar lacrosse netted 14 goals in the first half, on its way to a 19-6 victory at Hollins University Wednesday afternoon. With the conference win, Vixen lacrosse moves to 5-6 overall with one game remaining on the docket.
Sweet Briar jumped on the board first with a goal in the first minute and never relinquished the lead. The Vixens used a balance attack to build their lead as a six different Vixens put up tallies in the half. Leading the attack were juniors Meredith Newman (Charlottesville, Va./Tandem) and Megan Behrle (Manassas, Va./Stonewall Jackson) who each scored five in the first frame.

Newman finished the contest with eight goals to up her season total to 29. She has scored 13 goals in Sweet Briar's last two games, both wins. Behrle scored five goals and picked up a season-high six assists.
Sweet Briar concludes the regular season on Saturday as the team plays host to Lynchburg College at 2 p.m.
