Conductor Joe Nigro and the Sweet Briar College Chamber Orchestra will present its Spring Concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 22 in Memorial Chapel.
Nigro is directing the Chamber Orchestra for the second year. Membership includes Sweet Briar students – whose enrollment Nigro noted is doubled from last year – as well as two Randolph College students enrolled in SBC’s orchestra course, and local performers from his private studio.
Tuesday’s program features the “Simple Symphony for String Orchestra” by Benjamin Britten and Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 1 in C Major (Op. 21).” Of the latter, Nigro said, “Were really proud of that. That’s a great thing for the College.”
Listeners also might know Nigro from his performances with the James Piano Quartet, artists-in-residence at the College.
Admission to the concert is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact
