Emory, Va. – Host Emory & Henry College narrowly edged Sweet Briar tennis on Sunday, taking the conference match-up by a 5-4 score.
Sweet Briar picked up wins at No. 1 doubles and No. 1, No. 2, and No. 6 singles. The Vixens’ doubles win was won by the team of sophomore Virginia Edahl (Charlotte, N.C./Providence) and senior Caroline Byrd (Virginia Beach, Va./Norfolk Academy) who picked up their third-straight win at No. 1 with a 8-1 victory.

Edahl and Byrd each then moved on to wins in singles play, taking No. 1 and No. 2, respectively. The two were joined by senior Lieschen Cluiss (Conroe, Texas/Concordia Lutheran) who won 6-1,6-1 at No. 6.
Sweet Briar will travel to Bridgewater on Wednesday to face the Eagles in a conference match at 4 p.m.
