MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Snowbird Tournament ended on a high note for the Vixens on Thursday as Sweet Briar captured two solid wins to move its overall record to 6-9. Sweet Briar finished the four-day tournament with six wins and only two losses.
The Vixens started the day with a five-inning win over Penn State Harrisburg. Sweet Briar pounded out eight hits in the game to defeat the Lady Lions 9-1.
First-year Amey Landreth (Disputanta, Va./Prince George) capped off the Vixen scoring in the bottom of the fifth with a game-ending two-run home run.
Three other Vixens walk away with two RBIs in the game. First-year Ellie Witt (Salem, Va./Northside) and junior Meagan Bell (Amherst, Va./Amherst County) were each 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs.

Landreth added three more hits, including another home run, and three RBIs. Also going 3-for-5 were Witt and senior Beth Anderson (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin). Witt added three RBI to finish the two games with five.
Leading the way in the RBI column was Bell, who brought home four. Fellow junior Melissa Viar (Madison Heights, Va./Amherst County) was perfect at the plate with five hits in five at-bats.
First-year pitcher Megan Franklin (Powhatan, Va./Blessed Sacrament Huguenot) pitched another solid game in the circle for Sweet Briar.
The Vixens now return to campus to open conference play at home. Sweet Briar will face Randolph-Macon College on March 19 at 3:30 p.m.
